VERITAS Software has announced its support for Novell`s NetWare 5.1 with Version 8.5 of VERITAS Backup Exec for NetWare. NetWare 5.1 allows users to explore the growing trend of Web-based, e-business applications, as well as Web-based network management and resources. Version 8.5 of VERITAS Backup Exec for NetWare offers customers data-protection for their Web servers and mission-critical systems to ensure business without interruption.

As the first NetWare 5.1 "Yes Tested and Approved" backup solution, VERITAS Backup Exec for NetWare provides backups for NetWare users. VERITAS Backup Exec for NetWare`s Tape Mirror feature gives users the ability to target a single backup job to multiple tape drives simultaneously. In the event a tape drive fails, Tape Mirror also provides full redundancy, successfully completing the backup on the other drives. VERITAS Backup Exec for NetWare`s Quick Check feature offers an automated confirmation that the data is reliably written on the tape and available for restore.
Additionally, Quick Check validates that the customer`s hardware is working correctly.
NetWare 5.1 gives users the opportunity to extend Novell Directory Services to the Web with NDS eDirectory for building and managing secure and customised relationships with customers and partners. Included with the five-user licence of Oracle that ships in the NetWare 5 box is the VERITAS Backup Exec for NetWare Agent for Oracle. With the Oracle Agent and VERITAS Backup Exec for NetWare, customers can back up individual Oracle table spaces and archive redo logos. Novell, Oracle and VERITAS Software provide a comprehensive solution for demanding database applications on the NetWare platform.
