VERITAS Software has introduced VERITAS WinINSTALL 2000, a new version of the company`s automated software-distribution solution that brings enhanced functionality and flexibility to the distribution of applications and operating systems in Microsoft Windows 2000 and legacy Windows environments.
VERITAS WinINSTALL 2000 provides distribution from a single console to mixed desktop operating system environments, including Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 98 and Windows 95.
VERITAS WinINSTALL 2000 allows network managers to create, edit, customise and choose from an array of distribution methods for both native WinINSTALL packages and new Microsoft Windows Installer packages.
Microsoft licensed a limited version of VERITAS WinINSTALL to serve as the repackaging application within Windows 2000. The experience VERITAS Software gained producing VERITAS WinINSTALL LE for free inclusion with Windows 2000, combined with nine years experience in Windows software distribution, has resulted in the powerful new VERITAS WinINSTALL 2000. This product provides the enhanced administrative and management features crucial for efficient, enterprise-wide software distribution in a mixed operating system environment.

VERITAS WinINSTALL 2000 addresses the detailed requirements that make an administrator`s job easier. From its single console, VERITAS WinINSTALL gives administrators many distribution options, including push method, pull method, scheduled install, Windows NT service, e-mail, network log-in script, and floppy disk or CD-ROM distribution.
VERITAS Software has built Windows 2000-specific features into VERITAS WinINSTALL 2000, including utilisation of Active Directory Services, and the ability to edit the full range of Windows Installer .msi tables within the user interface.
