VERITAS Software has launched a dedicated Hewlett-Packard (HP) division to enhance its support for the HP platform in its ever-widening quest to offer customers cross-platform data availability solutions.
VERITAS Software and HP have been partners since 1993 and HP already bundles JFS, a light version of the VERITAS File System, with its HP-UX device.
"In addition to this, we also offer a full suite of products for the HP-UX platform," says Iain Buchan, manager EMEA, VERITAS/HP Strategic Business Unit at VERITAS Software.
This extended partnership, and the forming of the new division, will enhance VERITAS Software support for the enterprise and offer a fully integrated low-end, midrange and high-end solution from the backend to the front end, says Buchan.
"By closely partnering with Hewlett-Packard VERITAS Software has ensured that both the hardware and software integration aspects of an end-user`s environment are well in hand when it comes to data availability," says Mike Rees, business development manager, Middle East and Africa at VERITAS Software.
VERITAS Software channel partners and customers can expect enhanced services and support in four key areas, namely education, technical support, consulting and hotline support. "Our ability to effectively consult and integrate down to the kernel level within HP environments is a major benefit for our customers in terms of total cost of ownership, integration and implementation, as well as service and support," says Buchan.
The early integration of VERITAS Software File System in 1993 was the first step in realising today`s achievement of full integration. "Kernel-level integration is what differentiates us from our competition," says Buchan.
"Being able to do this makes possible all the benefits that we can now pass on to the customer.
"Our investment in South Africa is aimed at ensuring trouble-free operations for HP end-users. Over and above this we are also ensuring we stick to standards, enabling investment protection, and have committed to a long-term strategic relationship," concludes Buchan.
