Verizon drives video-on-demand
Verizon Communications has integrated a cloud-based content management and advertising platform from Clearleap for its Fios TV service, reports CNET News.
Verizon will initially deploy Clearleap to add local content and advertising to its Fios 1 channel, which offers subscribers local content including news, sports, traffic, and weather.
The telco is also working with over-the-top Internet providers. Last month, it signed a deal with Roku to bring free and paid video-on-demand content over the Internet to consumers who don't want to subscribe to expensive paid TV packages.
Third-party content a threat
Security company Dasient has released a study showing that up to 91% of Web sites run third-party Web applications, which can be compromised to gain access into a corporate network, states Dark Reading.
Dasient CTO and co-founder Neil Daswani, says: "This is a different sort of vulnerability than cross-site scripting or SQL injection, where the software developer can find the flaw and fix it. These third-party issues are around the structure of the site and if ads or widgets are part of your business, you can't just stop using that content."
To help mitigate the threat, Dasient recommends organisations vet their third-party content providers to ensure they are following security best practices.
Open Text integrates social communities
Open Text has released a merged content management solution called Web site Management 10.1, formerly known as Open Text Web Solutions and Red Dot, says CMS Wire.
Lubor Ptacek, vice-president of product marketing at Open Text, says: “At the core of an engaging Web experience is vibrant, relevant content and an immersive social community integrated with internal business processes and infrastructure.”
As part of the Open Text Web Content Management family of solutions, Open Text Web Site Management 10.1 is the next major release coming from the July 2009 unveiling of Open Text Web Solutions 10.
