Verizon, T-Mobile plan android phone
Verizon and T-Mobile USA plan to offer Motorola smartphones running Google's Android operating system by the end of the year, according to a report in Wall Street Journal, says CNET News.
Citing "people familiar with the matter," the Journal said the new phones stem from efforts by Motorola co-chief executive Sanjay Jha to revive the company's sluggish handset division.
Motorola is hoping Android will help it win a greater slice of the cellphone market.

Samsung develops phase change memory
Samsung Electronics and Numonyx are jointly developing market specifications for Phase Change Memory (PCM) products, a next-generation memory technology, states Newswire.
The technology will help enable makers of feature-rich handsets and mobile applications, embedded systems and high-end computing devices to meet the increasing performance and power demands for platforms loaded with content and data.
Creating common hardware and software compatibility for PCM products should help simplify designs and shorten development time, enabling manufacturers to quickly transition to high-performance, low-power PCM products from both companies.
