Call centre outsourcing battle goes online
TelstraClear's proposal to close down call centres in Kapiti and Christchurch is being fought with a Facebook and e-mail campaign, says Kapiti Observer.
Kapiti councillor Lyndy McIntyre sent out an e-mail campaign after a public meeting, followed by Engineering Printing and Manufacturing Union organiser John Kerr stating the union had since set up a Facebook group called 'Stop TelstraClear outsourcing - keep it Kiwi mate!'
"We will not accept you taking jobs from our community, and taking away the great service we currently enjoy, just to add to the TelstraClear bottom line," says McIntyre. Kerr says the key message is that the company's brand is at a potential risk if the proposal goes through.
