Creative`s new Video Blaster WebCam 3 is an affordable, easy to use, compact digital camera, offering users the power to capture, create and communicate in full colour, full-motion video directly from the PC.
Available in South Africa through Memtek-MMW, WebCam 3 features faster frame rates, sharper images and a robust software bundle, enabling users to send video e-mail, create a personal Web site and video conference via the Internet.
Says David Sharples, product manager at Memtek-MMW: "Not only does the Video Blaster WebCam 3 boast an improved, higher resolution CMOS sensor with more than three times the resolution of previous WebCams, it is also capable of 16.7 million colours and live video capture of up to 30 frames per second at a resolution of 352x288.
"WebCam 3 supports still image capture at up to 640x480 and features a lens which can be focused within a range of 75mm to infinity."
Sharples maintains that installation and configuration is simple, and is optimised for use with Microsoft Windows 98.
"WebCam 3 comes bundled with a full suite of software, including Video Blaster WebCam Monitor - an application for recording video, setting up a `security camera` or publishing a Web site.
"Video Blaster WebCam Control can be used to adjust camera settings, take snapshots, capture video, and sort all your images and motion video into an easy-to-use album. A system tray application, Video Blaster WebCam Control is always ready to go with just one click of the mouse," he says.
Video Blaster WebCam 3 also comes with ArcSoft`s Polaroid PhotoMAX, for retouching images, sending video e-mail, printing images to a colour printer and creating photo "fantasies" by combining images with fantasy backgrounds from the PhotoMAX gallery.
Available with a parallel port connector (model CT6920) or with a USB connector (model CT6840), Web Cam 3 requires an IBM PC or 100 percent compatible, an Intel Pentium, Pentium II, Pentium III, AMD-K6, or AMD-K6-2 processor running at 133 MHz or higher and 16 MB of RAM.
