Video games get rocking

Video games are getting their groove on with a collection of new music titles, as bands including the legendary Beatles are won over to a new platform for selling their songs, states China Daily.

The big three video game console makers and top third-party publishers are showing off their latest titles aimed at fulfilling a seemingly ubiquitous fantasy of being a rock star.

The two surviving original Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, appeared for a Rock Band video game debut at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, that wrapped up in Los Angeles.

Doom debuts on iPhone

Doom Resurrection, a new game in the legendary Mars/Hell-set first-person shooter series, is coming to Apple iPhones this week, according to the Mirror.

The game uses 'downsampled' art from the PC and console hit Doom III, but is an entirely new game, with new plot unfolding across eight new levels with around five hours of gameplay.

It has already been described as “one of the true next-generation games on the iPhone”.

Verbatim brings vibrating headsets

Verbatim has released two gaming headsets that claim to offer first-class sound quality and improved gaming performance, reports Pocket-lint.

The Rapier USB gaming headset's big feature is vibration. The company says an integrated bass amplifier means you'll actually be able to feel explosions and bassy sounds in the game.

The vibration covers 20Hz to 200Hz, and the speakers bring that up to 20kHz. It's accompanied by a VOIP-enabled microphone with a mute button, an adjustable headband, and leatherette earpads.
