Video streaming chews mobile
Allot Communications reported that mobile data bandwidth usage increased by 68% during the first half of 2010, reports Smart Office.
This is due to users streaming videos and checking social networking sites on their mobile phones. According to its MobileTrends global mobile broadband traffic report, video streaming applications continue to dominate the global mobile bandwidth scene and remain the largest consumer of bandwidth with a 35% share.
Web browsing had a 29% share in mobile data usage while P2P and HTTP download represented 31% of global mobile bandwidth.
McCann illuminates AV tech with LEDs
McCann Systems, an audio-visual design-build integrator, looks to the latest innovations in large venue LED projectors that is said to bring reliability to display electronics, writes PR Log
McCann will utilise LED projectors in all areas of corporate and commercial audio visual (AV) design including conference facilities, broadcast and large venue facilities, hospitality and retail facilities, command and operations centres, museums and exhibits, stadiums and arenas, the company says.
The LED projectors, according to the company, deliver unmatched colour saturation and colour depth to digital technology displays in very large venues. LED Projectors offer an increase in brightness and a decrease in size.
Classical music streaming to video home
Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and friends have become all but extinct on commercial radio, but an AV platform called Classical TV is giving them a home in the Internet, and it says it's pulling in a surprisingly young audience, says Rbr.com.
The service has been streaming for over a year, and says Microsoft Analytics show that 20.6% of its audience falls into the 18 to 24 year-old demographic; 51.2% are 18 to 34; and 79.6% are 18 to 49.
Classical TV says that these results are consistent with a poll it commissioned from Rasmussen in 2009, which found that the potential online audience skewed young. 68% of those saying they would stream such programming fell into the 18 to 49 demo, broken down as follows: 26% were 18 to 29; 27% were 30 to39; and 15% were 40 to 49.
