Global memory module manufacturer, Viking Components, whose European headquarters are based in Dublin, Ireland, has named Memtek-MMW as its first South African distributor.
Don O` Callaghan, Viking`s vice president and managing director for Europe and Asia, stresses that the company does not wish to impose a European or US model in South Africa. "We are anxious to open up the local proprietary memory market and gain marketshare, so we wish to appoint a strategic partner with excellent business capabilities and knowledge and experience of the South African market. Memtek-MMW was a clear choice.
"Viking shares a compatibility of minds with Memtek-MMW, which is a young, dynamic organisation," says O` Callaghan. "The partnership also falls neatly into Memtek-MMW`s strategy of pushing aggressively into the proprietary memory market," says Greg Mommsen, sales director at Memtek-MMW: "We had had dealings with Viking a couple of years ago and resumed the contact last year.
"Although previously not marketed in South Africa, the Viking Components brand enjoys a high level of awareness because of quality products and a strong global marketing base." "We look forward to kicking off in January this year and executing the broad sales and marketing strategies decided on with Memtek-MMW, while concurrently developing further plans to penetrate the South African market," adds O` Callaghan.
