Viking Components, manufacturer of OEM and upgrade component technology, has announced flash memory upgrade support for the new Palm m500 and m505 handheld computers. Viking`s MultiMediaCard (MMC) and Secure Digital (SD) flash cards are compatible with Palm`s expansion slot, enabling the maximum 64MB storage capacity in the Palm m500 series.
MMC cards for the Palm m500 series are now available from local Viking distributor, Memtek-MMW in 16MB (MMC16M), 32MB (MMC32M) and 64MB (MMC64M) capacities.

The size of a postage stamp and weighing less than two grams, Viking MMC and SD cards operate on low power, are reliable and easily transportable and can be shared among a variety of digital devices, including handhelds, mobile phones, pagers, PDAs, laptops, global positioning systems as well as MP3 players, and digital video cameras.

The Palm m500 and m505 handhelds are completely customisable with two expansion features. The standard Secure Digital/MMC slot and the Palm Universal Connector allow users to add storage, applications, content and add-ons such as a portable keyboard, wireless modem, camera and more. The Palm m500 and m505 ship with 8 MB of memory and are upgradeable to 64 MB of memory with MMC or SD card upgrades from Viking.
