Sun Microsystems has joined forces with Siebel Systems, provider of e-business applications software, to mutually deliver seamless support for their business solutions.
The global agreement is part of Sun's Vendor Integration Program (SunVIP), designed to further enhance delivery of premium customer service through prearranged vendor processes. "Network interoperability and uptime are important issues for mission-critical customers and, with the integration of computer and network systems, pinpointing the root cause of problems is difficult," says Stefano Mattiello, managing director at Sun Microsystems in SA.
"The SunVIP program offers a solution for customers utilising mission-critical support contracts with both Sun and Siebel Systems. To take advantage of the program, joint customers contact either Sun or Siebel Systems when they encounter an interoperability issue and can rely on technical co-operation between support engineers at both companies to help get them up and running quickly."
Allan Stewart, managing director at Siebel Systems SA, says the partnership with Sun Microsystems is a very promising solution for mutual customers. "We are focused on targeting line-of-business solutions while Sun's technology competence is unsurpassed. Additionally, Siebel System's software is released on Sun Solaris operating system, making Solaris one of the most strategic development platforms in the e-business environment.
"By jointly supporting our customers with these two essential components they receive the best of both worlds. Siebel regards the SunVIP program as an integral part of its Global Strategic Alliance with Sun," says Stewart.
The SunVIP program now encompasses 20 of the best-known independent software and hardware vendors. Customers wanting to take advantage of the SunVIP program must have valid support contracts with the participating hardware or software vendor.
