Virgin Media boosts mobile content
data company Motricity, as it attempts to make mobile entertainment an integral part of its service portfolio, reports Digital Spy.
Under the new deal, the cable operator will utilise Motricity's mCore MobileCast content management solution for delivering what it calls “real-time, consumer-relevant content to smartphones on the Virgin Mobile network.”
This is expected to enable Virgin Media's mobile subscribers to get real-time access to content, applications, goods and services, including the new online Virgin Media Player.
Wireless Federation says the Motricity-powered service will provide smartphone customers with real-time, zero touch access to their favourite content, applications, goods and services, directly to their 'phonetop'.
Fierce Mobile Content states that MobileCast will enable operators and enterprises to offer a host of content types - including HTML5, audio, video and text - to device platforms such as Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7.
The solution also includes publishing tools promising more efficient marketing campaign design as well as reporting and insight generation tools.
