Virtalis creates virtual engine plant

Sale-based virtual reality company Virtalis is collaborating with the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) and Boeing, says Manchester Evening News.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, BAE Systems, British Nuclear Fuels and the British Geological Survey, Virtalis has installed its latest StereoWorks active virtual reality system at AMRC's £10 million facility, Rolls-Royce Factory of the Future.

The virtual reality system will allow researchers to view and manipulate very large files converted into 3D virtual models.

Pyramid Saimira upgrades theatres

Indian entertainment firm, Pyramid Saimira Theatre, plans to spend Rs 2 billion in the coming 18 months with the aim to upgrade the technology in 250 theatres in the four southern states namely Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, says Top News.

PS Saminathan, chairman of the Pyramid Saimira Group, said: “The company will be renovating theatres in 100 centres in Tamil Nadu, with an investment of close to Rs 750 million. It will be extending its renovation initiative to the other states also, with Kerala in November, Andhra Pradesh in December and Karnataka in January.”

Sources close to the group say the theatres will be equipped with innovative projection and sound technology, integral mobile zones, and and video booths for live TV.

Christie awards McCann

Christie Digital Systems, a provider of visual solutions, has invited McCann Systems, a design-build audio visual integrator, to be a Christie VIP Platinum Partner, reports PR Canada.

To become a Christie VIP Platinum Partner, a company must demonstrate skills and competencies in designing, implementing and supporting Christie Digital display solutions.

As a design-build audio visual integrator, McCann Systems has collaborated with Christie Digital Systems on numerous projects in various corporate environments, including broadcast, and museums.
