Working with its channel partner and principal, Cabletron Systems, Duxbury networking has designed a suite of Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions geared to providing cost-effective, reliable, secure VPN services between central site, remote branch office and small office/home office (SOHO) locations.
The solution set includes application-aware VPN routing platforms, directory-enabled service level management (SLM) applications and support for key industry standards, says Duxbury Chief technology officer, Graham Vorster.
"Our VPN solutions enable network users to gradually add VPN services to their existing WAN infrastructures, while service providers can leverage Cabletron`s solutions to deliver the security, performance, reliability and quality of service (QoS) required to trust key business applications to the Internet," he says.
"We expect customers to implement VPNs in conjunction with their existing private networks. Our solution allows them to make this migration cost-effectively, at the rate that makes sense for them."
Central to the Duxbury/ Cabletron VPN solution is a new SOHO and branch office SmartSwitch Router (the SSR 550) from Cabletron which provides flexible, high-performance VPN security and manageability between central site, and regional and branch offices.
The SSR 550 is available as a stand-alone platform, or as an integrated, high-speed interface module (HSIM) for Cabletron`s SmartSwitch 2000/6000/9000 series of application-aware switches. The SSR 550 features 10/100 Ethernet interfaces and modular WAN interfaces (SWPIMs) including one LA, WAN and ISDN connections.
IPSec and L2TP protocols with wire-speed, hardware-based compression, DES/3DES encryption and public key acceleration deliver support for secure site-to-site VPN tunnels.
"This solution is currently unique in the industry in that it delivers a VPN solution over all major "last mile" access technologies, including cable, xDSL, PPP, Frame Relay, X.21, ISDN and wireless connections," adds Vorster.
