Enterasys Networks has extended its expertise in labour-reducing virtual private network (VPN) management tools by simplifying the provisioning of secure virtual networking solutions - making it easier for network administrators to manage large enterprise networks while masking the complexity of VPN access for end-users.
Enterasys new EZ-Ipsec tool - a new feature of its Aurorean Virtual Network solution - enables the quick, easy deployment of standard IPsec with IKE (Internet Key Exchange) tunnelling.
EZ-IPsec eliminates the need to manually set configuration parameters enabling easy provisioning of IPsec services.
"EZ-IPsec was designed to simplify the process of configuring standard IPsec tunnels within the Aurorean VPN environment by enabling a `point and click` operation for network managers," says Martin May Enterasys Networks SA regional director.
"Previously, network managers deploying an IPsec VPN were required to complete a lengthy and complicated configuration process to define security policy databases (SPD) on both ends of the VPN connection."
This complex process included configuring multiple parameters such as IKE mode, encryption algorithm, data authentication, re-keying time and byte length, IP address allocation, WINS and DNS addresses, and routing protocol, in order to establish the secure IPsec tunnel.
With EZ-IPsec, SPD attributes are pre-configured to reflect the most common access profiles for IPsec tunnels on the VPN.
The EZ-IPsec feature is part of Enterasys` Aurorean Virtual Network solution, a complete VPN solution that provides a secure Internet-based communications environment for end-user and remote office connectivity. The Aurorean Virtual Network consists of network gateways, policy servers and client software that provide a highly redundant, centrally managed system which enables enterprises to securely and cost-effectively connect their employees, branch offices and regional sites to the corporate network from anywhere in the world.
