Virtualisation drives software upgrades
You could name any three management vendors and chances are they'd all be adding support for virtual systems, yet it may be more difficult to find three that are coupling their virtualisation monitoring capabilities with advanced analytics, reports NetworkWorld.
This is the common thread tying Configuresoft, EMC and Netuitive together, with each vendor separately announcing updates or new products designed to provide expert analysis to the virtual realm.
Configuresoft introduced Enterprise Configuration Manager 5.1 with a VMware VirtualCenter Compliance plug-in that the company says enables VMware administrators to achieve compliance across virtual and physical infrastructure.
HP centre aids modernisation
HP's new release of its Quality Centre is designed to help IT organisations achieve greater success in their application modernisation projects through better management of the application life cycle, according to Manila Bulletin.
The HP Quality Centre 10.0 aims to help customers respond more rapidly to changing market conditions and competitive pressures by modernising their applications quickly and cost-effectively.
The new offerings help customers to focus investments on the right projects and retire those that don't offer clear business value through integration with HP Project and portfolio management software.
Virtual systems management tool unveiled
EMC debuted Smarts Server Management, an analysis tool for managing virtualised data centres, reports ZDNet Asia.
Using a behavioural model for systems, Smarts Server Management is able to understand the relationships between virtual servers, physical servers and the network, EMC said in a statement.
It can also "distinguish how symptoms are propagated to related infrastructure components".
