Johannesburg, 06 Mar 2001

SecureData, an ERP.com company and the exclusive sub-Saharan distributors of Trend Micro Inc., is warning computer users of a potentially fast spreading Trojan virus known as "NAKEDWIFE". This destructive Trojan is a mass-mailing worm that uses Outlook to email itself as an attachment and deletes a variety of files in the Windows and system directories. is being posted to SecureData's Web site as pattern file #859. Concerned computer users can use Trend Micro's free online virus scanner, HouseCall to detect this threat.

A sample of the email is as follows:

Subject: Fw: Naked Wife
Body: My wife never look like that!;-)
Best Regards,
<sender>
Attachment: NakedWife.exe

When the EXE file is executed, the Trojan displays a message box titled "Flash", with an image and then displays a message box saying, "You're are now F***ED" (c) 2001 by BGK (Bill Gates Killer).

"There's no new technology being employed here, just effective social engineering I'm sad to say" said Wayne Biehn, Sales Director, SecureData. "Users really need to learn to think twice before clicking on attachments."
