Visa International is enlarging its local office to cope with the expansion of its business operations in sub-Saharan Africa.
Visa says the expansion will enhance its business, technology and marketing assistance to member banks and support its growing number of financial institutions in SA and other sub-Saharan countries.
It operates in 27 countries in the region, with more than 90 member financial institutions.
Chris Winter, GM and senior VP for sub-Saharan Africa, says Visa has been experiencing growth in volume and spread of business in the region.
"Our growing business volume, rising cardholder base, increasing number of member financial institutions and their geographical spread, and the need to be easily accessible due to the widening distribution network have necessitated the strategy of increasing our staff complement," he says.
"Our focus is to help our members achieve their strategic goals and to assist our members with a range of services and technology to enable them to provide superior payment options to their customers.
"We believe additional staff in the region will go a long way in achieving this end."
