Vision 5.1 optimises financial reporting and analysis

iLanga Systems, a company in the Business Unusual group, has announced the local availability of the Vision 5.1 business intelligence, financial reporting and analysis application, comprising Vision Executive and Vision XL. With drilldown and analysis capabilities, it enables decision support for financial management.

Vision Executive is an OLAP tool allowing users to access their accounting system directly, to build their own information views and to navigate from summary to detailed information, and between analysis dimensions. It can also be used as the basis for an accounting data mart.

Vision Executive permits user to report and ask any number of analytical questions about reporting data. Functions such as drilldown, expand and breakout allow users to probe financial data in search of a proper understanding of contributing influences.

Organisations have long found that the analytical capabilities of finance have not been extended to the rest of the enterprise, often resulting in a financial chasm.

"Vision, which has been optimised for the finance function, enables our customers to extend management responsibility throughout the organisation," says Dion Retief, iLanga Systems MD. "Vision makes information accessible, in the right format, to anyone in the organisation."

Vision also provides an intelligent link to the SunSystems financial and business management software suite. With Vision XL, users can incorporate SunSystems data into Microsoft Excel, allowing the analytical power of Excel to be applied to financial data and transferred back into SunSystems. By providing enhanced spreadsheet connectivity, it also supports comprehensive financial analysis.

While Vision runs independently of SunSystems, it maximises the power behind the SunSystems data model and eases analysis of SunSystems data through its new user interface and enhanced functional depth and breadth. "Vision enables the reporting versatility and analytical power needed for financial management in the New Economy and complements our range of level financial solutions that provide realtime financial intelligence," adds Retief.

Vision 5.1 is available immediately for SunSystems 4.2 and v.5 on Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. Future development plans include extending the product to supply chain and Web analysis.
