Securex, an exhibition centred on different types of security, will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre, in Johannesburg, from 21 to 23June and, due to visitor demand, for the first time in Cape Town, from 27 to 29 September.
Now in its seventh year in Johannesburg, Securex will this year focus on making South African business safer, says Aldean Prior, director of Exhibitions for Africa.
"In the IT arena, the event will focus on the growing trend of the convergence of IT and physical security for cost-savings and improved efficiencies," she explains.
Besides the exhibition, there will be a range of workshops hosted by the Security Association of SA and covering topics such as marketing a business, legal issues facing the security industry and electronic security, continues Prior.
Cape Town will see Securex take place alongside Futurex Cape later in the year.
"It will give exhibitors from Johannesburg time to follow up on leads after the event and they will have time to prepare for the next Securex," Prior explains.
The exhibition has grown, with 5 000 visitors in 2004, which is up by 1 000 from the year before. With exhibitors already totalling over 170, Prior believes this year`s event will be the biggest to date.
