VistaPrint gets sued
VistaPrint has had two purported class action lawsuits brought against it and two third-party merchants in Texas and New Jersey, says Market Watch.
The plaintiffs allege various violations of the federal Electronic Funds Transfer Act and the federal Electronic Communications and Privacy Act, as well as asserting various state statutory and common law claims, relating to certain membership discount programmes offered by the third-party merchants on VistaPrint's US Web site.
The plaintiffs seek an unspecified amount of damages, including compensatory and punitive damages, as well as injunctive relief. VistaPrint believes it has meritorious defences to these lawsuits and intends to defend these matters vigorously.
HubSpot sees surge
Internet marketing start-up HubSpot is seeing a spike in business as its small and mid-size business customers ramp up efforts to use the Internet to generate sales leads, says Mass High Tech.
It is reporting a growth spurt that CEO Brian Halligan said is due to businesses and marketers coming to the realisation that Internet-based strategies can drum up clients.
Since May, the number of customers has surged from nearly 400 to 600, Halligan said.
DiGi goes green
Johan Dennelind, DiGi's CEO, revealed the ICT industry is set to surpass the aviation industry as a major contributor of CO2 emissions by 2012, according to a McKinsey report on the environmental impact of industries released earlier this year, says ScandAsia.
This eye-opening report, among other things, has galvanised DiGi to take action and has started going 'Deep Green' on a gradual basis.
It has introduced a carpooling programme for its employees and better energy management of its buildings; provided default e-billing to its post-paid customers and online delivery of services via its branded prepaid service, Happy, such as online reloads.
