VMware, an EMC company and a global leader in virtual infrastructure software, has appointed Dimension Data as its first Authorised Consulting (VAC) partner in SA. Under the terms of the agreement, Dimension Data will be able to provide customers with an extensive range of server virtualisation solutions, which are underpinned by VMware`s global methodology and best practices.

Virtualisation provides a highly effective cost optimisation technique, enabling organisations to sweat their IT assets for longer while at the same time becoming more flexible.

Dimension Data will gain access to VMware`s virtual infrastructure methodology (VIM), resources and intellectual property and enter into consulting engagements with customers to deliver virtualisation solutions most suited to their requirements. VIM complements Dimension Data`s global managed services strategy, as well as its Plan, Build and Support methodology, which governs the delivery of its solutions.
To qualify as a VMware authorised consulting partner, organisations require a proven consulting/services business model as well as a minimum number of consultants that are trained as VMware certified professionals.
