VMware on business
Virtualisation vendor VMware has unveiled the strategy of leveraging on business continuity in the coming years, reports ITExaminer.
The company plans to introduce a range of new products, which will provide zero downtime and more business continuity to the companies - including Vmotion, Chargeback, fault tolerance and so forth.
“Customers tell us they need to do more with less, and business continuity is the best example,” said Raghu Raghuram, vice-president, server business unit, VMware. According to the company, business continuity tops customers' demand with 45% followed by server consolidation, having 40% of the total demand.
Organisations 'complacent about business continuity'
Companies are risking their operations by not placing emphasis on business continuity plans, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has warned, according to womenintechnology.
In a new report, the CMI noted that organisations have not been taking action to secure themselves from threats like technology failures, adverse weather and staff absences.
The study, published in association with the Cabinet Office, revealed that 32% of firms never test their business continuity plans, a proportion that has remained almost unchanged since 1999 when 30% of organisations admitted to this.
