Vodacom's Group CEO, Alan Knott-Craig, announced changes in the organisational structure of the Vodacom Group, as well as several high-profile appointments which will be effective from 1 April 2007.
New appointments
Peter Matlare, currently Executive Director: commercial, Vodacom SA, will be appointed to the position of Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer for Vodacom Group, and will continue to serve on the board of Vodacom South Africa.
Romeo Kumalo, currently MD, Vodacom Tanzania, will be appointed to the position of Commercial Director responsible for sales, marketing and new products for Vodacom South Africa.
Dietlof Mare, currently MD, Vodacom Congo, will become the MD of Vodacom Tanzania for an initial period of three years.
Mervyn Visagie, currently MD, Vodacom Lesotho, will become the MD of Vodacom Congo for an initial period of two years.
Godfrey Mbingo will become the MD of Vodacom Lesotho for an initial period of three years. Godfrey will work alongside Mervyn in Lesotho for an initial period as from 15 January 2007.
Organisational changes
Vodacom will create a new post at group level, of Chief Strategy and Business Development. The MD of Vodacom Ventures, TC Ralebitso, will report into this position, and not to the COO as is currently the case.
The Chief Strategy and Business Development officer will report directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer.
The current strategy and mergers and acquisitions group will be resourced to focus exclusively on mergers and acquisitions. This group will also assume responsibility for the process of the envisaged BEE equity transaction. Nku Nyembezi-Heita will continue to assume the role of Chief of Mergers and Acquisitions for the Vodacom Group.
