SA's largest cellular operator has appointed a Vodafone executive to its board.
Vodacom says Paolo Bertoluzzo has been appointed with effect from 15 January. He replaces James Maclaurin, who steps down on the same day. Maclaurin is a Vodafone executive, but is leaving the company early next year.
Bertoluzzo is CEO of Vodafone Italy, a post he has held since April 2008, after joining Vodafone Italy in September 1999.
He is also vice-chairman of Assotelecomunicazioni, the Italian association of telecommunications companies, which is linked to Confindustria.
Bertoluzzo graduated in management engineering in 1990 from the Polytechnic of Milan and has an MBA from INSEAD in France.
Vodacom chairman Peter Moyo says he welcomes the appointment, and looks forward to Bertoluzzo's contribution to the company.
