Vodacom customers win big in Yebo Millionaires game show this week

Johannesburg, 17 Nov 2005

A month after Vodacom South Africa launched Yebo Millionaires, its exciting new television game show, Vodacom`s loyal customers have already begun reaping the rewards.

Last night, two Vodacom customers were rewarded with hundreds of thousands of rands, including the first customer who won the weekly prize of R100 000 with an eight matching letter entry. The second winner, Jessine from Cape Town, won the guaranteed R500 000 which was given away this week to one lucky customer who successfully entered the game show. Both winners will also benefit from counselling and investment advice which Vodacom will arrange for them with Absa.

On Tuesday, 25 October 2005, Charlotte from Tzaneen was the lucky winner of the first car to be won on the show. Charlotte received the keys to her Ford Focus last week Friday at Tzaneen Auto and the emotional 32-year-old said: "I am still so excited after winning my new Ford - this is my first car and came to me at just the right time - thank you Vodacom, you made my dream come true!"

"We would like to reward our millions of loyal customers and thank them for continuing to make Vodacom the leading cellular network in South Africa. Congratulations to Charlotte and we wish her many safe kilometres in her new car," said Mthobi Tyamzashe, Executive Director Corporate Affairs, Vodacom.

During the game show on Tuesday 1 November 2005, five winners received R20 000 each. A rather impressive prize considering that Vodacom customers receive two free SMSes per week to enter this game show whereby they stand a chance to win R1 million.

With every entry, Vodacom customers make a difference in the life of someone less fortunate. In addition to the prizes awarded on a weekly and monthly basis, Vodacom will donate computer centres to 12 public schools over the next six months. These centres will be funded from the proceeds of the game show. The details of how to get your school onto the list to be considered for the computer centre will be communicated during next week`s show, on 15 November, just before 18:00. Once again, Vodacom makes every moment count.

Screened live on SABC 1 every Tuesday night just before 18:00, the Yebo Millionaires weekly SMS game show is about rewarding Vodacom`s 16 million loyal customers. Vodacom customers can send their nine lucky letters of the alphabet to 32082. Letters can be repeated, eg AA and letters can be in any order, eg CBA.

Once customers have SMSed their nine letters to 32082, they will receive an SMS with an easy multiple choice question that must be answered correctly in order to qualify to play the game. Once the question has been correctly answered, the entrant receives an SMS confirming that the entry is accepted and entered into the draw, as well as a reference number which should be kept as proof of entry. Entries close at 12:00 every Tuesday, on the day of the draw.
