Following a high profile media announcement in November 2004, Vodacom will deliver on the promise to bring world class products and services to the South African market through the network`s strategic alliance with Vodafone, the world`s largest mobile community.Says Alan Knott-Craig, Vodacom Group CEO: "Vodafone live! is the cornerstone of Vodacom`s consumer offering this year and will change the way our subscribers use their cell phones in the future. Although Vodafone live! is powered by 2,5G and 3G, it is the finest example of 3G technology in action, bringing data to life through the cell phone device."
Vodafone live! will introduce the South African market to exclusive global and local content, plus picture messaging, games, polyphonic ringtones, 3D Java games and video messaging. Vodacom will offer subscribers a range of Vodafone branded handsets from Sharp, Motorola and Sony Ericsson, at launch. Vodafone live! services will be accessed through an icon-based, colour menu on all integrated Vodafone handsets.
Vodafone live! with 3G will enable subscribers to make video calls, to send and receive picture and video messaging and to download full track music downloads to their handsets.
Says Pieter Uys, Vodacom Group Chief Operating Officer: "Vodafone live! is similar to browsing the internet on your handset. You can view different pages designed specifically for Vodafone live! handsets, download unique content and get upgrades and alerts sent directly to your handset. Browsing is free and means customers can spend time looking at various screens (window shopping) and discovering many exciting features and best local and international content available. Customers only pay for downloaded content. Various services of Vodafone live! give subscribers the option of being able to subscribe to a service and get regular updates or alerts directly to your handset."
Vodafone live! is available to both Contract and Prepaid customers. There are no settings to be configured, no numbers to call, just one touch access to a whole world of content and services. Just get yourself a Vodafone live! handset from a participating Vodacom outlet, switch on your phone and come alive with Vodafone live!
