Vodacom Lesotho network gets Intelligent make-over

Siemens Telecommunications has signed a contract, valued at approximately R17 million, to provide a fully operational Intelligent (IN) Platform for Vodacom Lesotho Limited (VCL). This will allow capacity for 24 000 prepaid subscribers and is fully extendable to 150 000 subscribers.

The roll-out of the IN platform for phase 1 is expected to be fully operational and commercially available to VCL by April next year.

In terms of the contract, Siemens will provide a solution with limited in the critical early stages of IN Platform rollout and development. This is intended to free VCL resources to focus more on activities that add the highest value, such as proactive service development.

Siemens in South Africa supports as many as 20 countries with equipment and services in Africa and is a pioneer in developing and implementing IN for fixed and mobile networks. As part of their commitment to Africa, Siemens turnkey contracts include the provision for skills training and job creation.
