Vodafone intros ECampus

Vodafone Qatar has introduced ECampus, an interactive internal e-learning system it says will the company's new training programme and to develop talented people, states the Gulf Times.

About 30 Vodafone employees from different departments, including some interns, have started testing all of the new SkillSoft courses - ready-made e-learning courses - and tailor made courses designed in-house by Vodafone, which will cover a multitude of skills.

“The key to successful learning and development is in finding the right balance to 'make a world of difference' for a variety of people with different skills levels, learning attributes, and language skills across multiple languages,” said Asim Mirza, Vodafone Qatar operational readiness manager.

Kenya curriculum goes digital

School head teachers meeting in Mombasa, Kenya, recently, have called for the review of the curriculum, saying it was outdated, says Business Daily.

Among the positive initiatives coming out of the sector are plans by the Kenya Institute of to put learning materials for Form One and Two into a digital format. This is a welcome boost for parents who have been complaining about the high cost of text books.

The parastatal is teaming up with computer micro-processor manufacturer, Intel, and a software and computer parts maker, Mustek East Africa, to deliver the software and hardware. The two companies will provide laptops to schools to enable students access the content.

University runs free business course

The New Hampshire Small Business Development Centre, an outreach programme of the University of New Hampshire Whittemore School of Business and Economics, has introduced an online course for entrepreneurs seeking guidance on how to finance a New Hampshire business, reports Seacoast Online.

The course is the latest addition to the centre's offering of free online resources for entrepreneurs.

Developed as a primary resource on financing a business in the state, the 90-minute course contains myriad financing resources and tools, and helps entrepreneurs navigate the maze of funding options available in the state.
