Vodacom's enterprise arm has unveiled a mobile-technology-based communication solution for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) - coupled with a promise of huge savings.

One Net Express provides big business switchboard benefits to small businesses, says Vodacom Business. "[The product] is already in use by over two million Vodafone subscribers across the UK and Europe. Together, these customers have realised savings of over £1 billion (approximately R15 billion) in a year."

Head of Vodacom's enterprise unit, Vuyani Jarana, says SMEs are the growth engine for SA's economy. "[However], often the pressures and costs associated with doing business can stifle their development."

Jarana says Vodacom Business expects uptake of the Vodafone product to mirror that of the international scale it has seen.

The product is available for under R200 per month and is specifically designed for companies employing up to 100 people. It gives businesses traditional switchboard or PBX features on their cellphones.

One Net Express also includes call management functions, such as hunt groups and auto attendant. "Businesses will also have the option to either port in or request a landline telephone number for their business. This number will be accessible to their cellphones with no divert fees," says Vodacom.
