Voicematix appointed Unity Solution Provider for Active Voice Corporation

Johannesburg, 08 Sep 1999

Voicematix, leaders in the implementation of unified messaging solutions in South Africa, have been appointed by Active as the first Unity Solution Provider for southern Africa.

Unity is a Windows NT-based communications solution that offers voice mail, true unified messaging, and a fax server in a MicrosoftBackOffice environment. It gives users the ability to access and their e-mail, voice mail and fax messages from the desktop PC, via a touch-tone telephone, or over the .

Thys Hattingh, regional manager Africa at Active Voice, says "Our relationship with Voicematix suits Active Voice`s high-skills and flexible environment. Voicematix is the only qualified Unity Solution Provider in Africa and we are proud to be associated with them. They have a long history of successfully implementing unified messaging solutions into a large portion of the top 100 corporates in SA and are ideally positioned to offer Unity as a unified messaging solution."

Unity is built for companies that have adopted Microsoft BackOffice and are looking for an NT-based unified messaging system that will fit snugly into their Exchange environment.

"Active Voice has invested considerable effort in carefully designing Unity` s server architecture and keeping all the benefits of NT in mind. Through superior NT performance, extensive use of critical BackOffice components, an intuitive Web browser-style interface, and the use of streaming media, Unity `s architecture minimises installation, administration, and maintenance costs - making life easier for the people who install and support systems, and lowering total-cost-of ownership," explains Hattingh.

Boudje Giljam, managing director at Voicematix, says "We understand that our customers don`t want one more disparate groupware system to manage. Because Unity is built using BackOffice components, it leverages what system administrators already know about their networks."

Unity`s modular design allows organisations to choose the components that best fit their needs and create their own customised communication solution. At the core of Unity is its powerful voice-messaging module, which integrates advanced voice mail, automated attendant and audio text in one solution.

The Unity unified messaging module takes users one step further by allowing them to access and manage voice, fax, and e-mail messages from the desktop PC. It gives users the ability to exchange voice and fax messages internally and across the Internet, and it also supports such critical features as remote access, foldering, and rules-based message management. In addition, Unity`s text-to-speech module gives users the ability to listen to e-mails over a touch-tone telephone. If users want to add fax capabilities, Unity`s fax module will help save time and money by allowing users to easily send and receive faxes from their desktop PC.

Unity integrates with most popular traditional telephone systems. Its unique use of TAPI also allows it to work equally well with IP telephone systems. As telephone networks grow to include IP telephone systems, Unity`s ability to integrate with these new systems will allow it to keep pace without expensive hardware enhancements. Unity protects investments in legacy telephone systems and ensures a smooth transition to the future.
