VOIP provider in centre expansion
The voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) solutions provider says its EdgeProtect SBCs are interoperable with VOIP and video devices.
It says the unified communications (UC) infrastructure market will reach $4.8 billion by 2015, and that just over half of enterprises plan to invest in UC projects in the data centre in 2011.
VOIP Planet says in addition to connecting and securing IP voice and video traffic, the EdgeProtect prioritises voice and video before data traffic.
The solution is a set of diagnostic tools built into the platform to help isolate the impairments that cause low call or video quality.
TMCnet states that the EdgeProtect Enterprise SBCs help connect remote employees and locations to centrally based unified communication systems and IP PBXs.
Firewalls and NAT servers tend to prevent reliable IP-based voice and video communications also and hence it becomes necessary to secure this real-time traffic in transit between locations.
Richard Ptak, co-founder and managing partner at Ptak, Noel and Associates says: “Extending UC systems to remote offices poses significant challenges for enterprises, including navigating firewalls, ensuring security for traffic and implementing tools for the real-time diagnosis of network issues.”
