VOIP sales increase
Sales of voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) systems for business are increasing while traditional telecommunications see revenues dip, according to a new survey, says Telappliant.
The survey, by Global Sources, found enterprise VOIP sales increased by 31% in 2007 compared to the year before.
Over the same period, sales of traditional business telecoms systems fell by 20%.
VOIP can benefit SMEs
According to VOIP-News, industry expert Colin Duffy, a council member for The Internet Telephony Services Providers' Association and CEO of Voipfone.co.uk, is encouraging SMEs to adopt VOIP.
Duffy says VOIP allows SMEs to afford advanced features such as telephone extensions, music on hold and call transfer; all features which present a professional image for the company.
However, Duffy highlights that many SMEs do not have sufficient knowledge or expertise to switch from traditional to VOIP telephony.
