Vox Amvia, the fax specialist in the JSE AltX-listed Vox Telecom group and the local distributor of RightFax, has announced its Closed User Group offering, a new service that can save companies millions in costs and improve their processes and compliance with corporate governance.
The Closed User Group is based on disintermediation - where Telkom, the fax middleman, is cut out of the loop - and the Pareto Principle, in terms of which 80% of fax costs are typically incurred with just 20% of fax recipients.
"We have shown in pilots that we can halve the cost of faxing for fax-intensive organisations," says Boudje Giljam, sales and marketing director of Vox Amvia.
"To qualify for the Closed User Group, a company must already be a RightFax customer. That's most large corporations, as RightFax owns some 70% of the local fax server market.
"We analysed customers' call data records by feeding them through our billing engine, and we found that they send the bulk of their faxes to the same numbers, the organisations with which they do regular, repeat business - large car dealerships, for instance, doctors, in the case of a medical aid administrator, or conveyancing attorneys in the case of a bank.
"We nominate high-traffic, high-expense organisations for selection in our customer's RightFax fax server infrastructure, and route the faxes via an IP connection rather than via Telkom. This is vital, as 80% of the current cost of faxing is incurred with the telco. A proof of concept with one financial institution projected savings of R2 million a year," says Giljam.
"In today's economic climate, companies are looking to cut costs in every way possible," concludes Giljam. "Our Closed User Group does just that, while enhancing processes and corporate governance."
