Vox Orion launches Telco Toolbox

Johannesburg, 25 Jun 2009

Vox Orion, a division of the Vox Telecom Group, says its new telecommunications management service can help drastically improve an organisation's reporting functionality relating to their telecoms environment and facilitate in significantly reducing expenditure - and it is prepared to back its promises with cash.

“We're so confident that our Telco Toolbox will save companies money that we're offering the initial audit for free,” says Vox Orion MD Jacques du Toit. The initial audit acts as a “health check” for a corporate ICT environment.

Du Toit says Vox Orion is introducing the service to help South African corporates cope with an increasingly complex telecommunications environment. “Deregulation has brought many benefits, but the resulting diversity has also made corporate telecoms environments much more challenging to manage. In most organisations there are many opportunities to cut the total telecommunications bill - but the opportunities can be hard to find.”

The auditing service will use the Vox Telecom groups' specialist knowledge of corporate voice and data networks to identify areas where companies are paying too much or for services they are not utilising - and recommend technology, infrastructure and user behaviour changes.

“We look at the client's telecoms architecture in detail, down to the level of the individual extension,” says Du Toit. “Typically, this uncovers many inefficiencies, including unused lines, multiple or overlapping vendor accounts, billing problems and even potential abuse of the company facilities.”

Following the free audit, companies that are not Vox Orion customers can opt to receive monthly reports in return either for a service fee, or for free, if the customer places all outbound traffic with Orion for a share of the resulting savings. “In addition, if the customer outsources all its services to us, including its PBX, voice termination and ISP services, we'll pay a percentage of each year's projected savings up front. This is subject to certain qualification criteria and compliance to key terms and conditions,” he says.

The Telco Toolkit combines extension and trunk line management with user activity and mobile handset monitoring tools to ensure transparent and intuitive reporting of all telecommunications costs.
