Vox Telecom and Mimecast aim to deliver a "complete" e-mail management solution for small and large businesses.

Vox Telecom is looking to improve its e-mail management solution for companies in the enterprise and small business environment, announcing a partnership using Mimecast SA's technology.

According to Vox, the partnership will yield simplified and reduced e-mail infrastructure and administration overheads, while removing the need to deploy, integrate and multiple standalone e-mail management solutions.

Mimecast - a provider of -based e-mail archiving, and security - comes on board in what Vox notes is a deal making it "the first vendor able to deliver a turnkey e-mail solution to the market". The result, says Vox, is a more complete solution which integrates e-mail tracking with better storage capabilities.

Craig Freer, head of products at Vox, says: "Mimecast's Unified E-mail Management enables us to offer our customers e-mail security, continuity and archiving, and this together with MailTrack, our e-mail auditing and tracking product, and BulkMailer, our e-mail marketing tool, delivers a complete e-mail management solution for companies both in the enterprise and small business environment.

"We have partnered with them for their ability to deliver from a technology perspective and to add to our e-mail offering in the market. We were looking to add a cloud-based archiving element to e-mails," he adds.

Werno Gevers, channel and alliances manager at Mimecast, says both his company and Vox are well-respected, innovative brands in the market, and the partnership has built a strong team and value proposition "to bring meaningful solutions to local businesses".

With more than 400 billion e-mails sent daily, says Freer, organisations need e-mail strategies that meet the regulatory requirements of risk mitigation and compliance.

Growth opportunities

Vox CEO Jacques du Toit recently said the company would seek potential partnerships as the sector comes under increasing deflationary pressure, and consolidation within the sector picks up pace.

The Mimecast announcement is centred on improving a technological solution, although Du Toit had pointed out that Vox's shareholders - Investec, Rand Merchant Bank and Lereko Metier Capital - took a look at the convergence happening within the sector and decided to open up to a partnership.

He said the company will capitalise on new opportunities even if it does not find a new partner, as it is also open to acquisitions.
