Following Wang Global`s inaugural year of consolidation, it begins its second financial year with appointment of a new managing director in South Africa and the launch its net network and desktop service offer, NetWorkPlace.
Says Charles Proudfoot, newly appointed managing director at Wang Global South Africa: "The success of our first financial year can be attributed to the synergies between our two parent companies, Wang and OLSY. In a 9 month period (March to December), Wang Global integrated two companies, re-structured and re-organised the combined businesses without losing a single customer and yet achieving `98 financial targets. In `99 we`re ideally positioned to leverage off this success and aggressively drive sales growth."
Charles Proudfoot replaces Japie Keuler as managing director, who retired after 38 years with the company. Proudfoot has more than 15 year`s experience in the information technology industry. He joins Wang Global from MB Technologies where he was managing director of Global Outsourcing and Tarsus Networking. Prior to that he was general manager, Apple Computers where he oversaw the re-entry of the company into the South African market. This experience exposed him to American management style, systems and methods for financial reporting, of particular benefit to the local Wang Global subsidiary, previously established in the European business code. An LLB graduate from the University of Witwatersrand, Proudfoot also brings vast experience in distribution, networking consulting and services.
Charles Proudfoot is optimistic about joining Wang Global at this stage in the companies` lifecycle. "Wang Global locally is in an excellent position: we have a mature and well-run business with excellent people and a strong balance sheet. What really excites me is the strong customer base with the expanded range of service and solution offerings and a soon to be expanded sales force. We anticipate a strong performance in `99."
Wang Global`s NetWorkPlace, an IT infrastructure services offering meets the needs of organisations running complex, heterogeneous IT infrastructures but seeking to improve all costs and efficiencies. NetWorkPlace provides a managed Common Operating Environment and a robust Common Support Environment so customers can take advantage of initiatives such as Enterprise Resource Planning and e-commerce, essential to the success and growth of a company entering the 21st century. "With NetWorkPlace we have an offer that will not only add value to existing customers, but also allow us to offer solutions to all South African organisations seeking control of their networked and computing environment," comments Proudfoot.
