Wantitall, a South African online store, is now allowing payment through mimoney - a virtual wallet system that works via mobile phone.

account.

Mimoney works in a similar way to preloaded airtime. Users can load vouchers at Ster-Kinekor self-service terminals, box offices, and through electronic funds transfer on Standard Bank's online Autopay facility, or on the mimoney Web site. To make a payment, a customer enters their phone number and mimoney voucher code.

Mimoney vouchers are only available in amounts of up to R5 000, with a daily spending limit of R5 000.

Business manager of mimoney John Campbell says the relationship with Wantitall comes as part of an effort to make every product available on the Internet accessible to everyone.

“Underlying this is our mandate to make online shopping possible for anyone who is unbanked or doesn't want to use a credit card online.”
