A strategic alliance has been formed between Ability Solutions and Warehouse Works to incorporate a warehouse management module into the Ability - eCommerce Fulfillment offering.
According to Stan Antonites, managing director of Warehouse Works, "The total integration of the warehouse management software into Ability`s eCommerce Fulfillment solution enables the company to offer the market a solution that combines a business management system with an execution level warehouse management offering, which includes full barcode printing and radio frequency handheld functionality."
Shoaib Patel, managing director of Ability Solutions, says: "The strategic partnership was concluded with Warehouse Works because it allows Ability Solutions to focus on areas it was unable to target before, such as fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and pharmaceuticals.
"The combination of the Ability - eCommerce Fulfillment package and the Warehouse Works product offers customers an e-commerce fulfillment solution incorporating both distribution and warehouse management functionality.
"Ability Solutions is now able to offer clients batch and lot tracking, as well as picking and stock storage by expiry date," says Patel.
He adds: "The products were combined via native integration without any file transfer. The system now allows for online and real-time transfer between the two packages."
"The solution has already been implemented at four sites for plumbing, sanitary and hardware wholesaler WH Saffer," says Antonites. "It was first unrolled in Durban during October 2000, followed by Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, and is due to go live in Johannesburg soon. There are currently 300 users nationwide," he adds.
