WatchGuard accelerates market attack

Seattle, 29 Apr 2010

WatchGuard Technologies, a global leader of business security solutions, is launching a new competitive trade-in programme, “Red Instead”.

This innovative programme offers free WatchGuard XTM multifunction firewalls and WatchGuard XCS messaging security appliances to businesses that trade in competitive unified threat management (UTM) firewalls or spam/content security appliances. This offer will run till the end of June 2010.

“Malware, viruses and hackers are constantly changing and becoming more sophisticated, stealthy and destructive,” said Eric Aarrestad, Vice-President of Marketing at WatchGuard Technologies. “However, at risk are many businesses that rely on old technology to thwart these next-generation attacks. The WatchGuard 'Red Instead' programme ameliorates this problem by giving businesses an opportunity to get the best network, application and data protection for free.”

For a limited time only, customers who trade in a competitive security appliance and sign a three-year WatchGuard XTM or XCS software bundle suite will be able to get a WatchGuard XTM 2, 5 or 8 Series next-generation firewall, or WatchGuard XCS 170, 370, 570, 970 or 1170 Series messaging security appliance for free.

World renowned for our bright-red appearance, WatchGuard XTM Series represents the latest in multi-layered, "defence-in-depth" next-generation firewall capabilities. Ideal for small businesses up to enterprise organisations, WatchGuard XTM solutions provide unparalleled network, application and data protection, superior management features and capabilities, and unlike competitive UTM appliances, the industry's best price/performance value.

Recently released, the WatchGuard XTM 2 Series delivers best in class security performance to small businesses and remote sites that need strong protection without hefty price tags. Enterprise-grade security includes full HTTPS content inspection, and VOIP support and flexible management tools allow administrators to work from an intuitive console, scriptable CLI, and Web UI.

Likewise, the WatchGuard XTM 5 Series combines firewall/VPN with unmatched throughput and a suite of flexible management tools to give mid-size businesses a sure-fire way to keep their networks safe. These newest additions to the XTM family sport the industry's highest full UTM performance. Furthermore, seven Ethernet interfaces - six GigE and one FE - provide high-speed LAN backbone infrastructure and gigabit WAN connectivity. IT administrators can manage security from a centralised console, scriptable CLI, and Web UI. Real-time monitoring and rich reporting are included at no extra cost.

Ideal for main offices/headquarters with up to 5 000 users, the WatchGuard XTM 8 Series includes full HTTPS inspection, optional URL filtering, anti-spam, anti-virus and intrusion prevention. Flexible, centralised management tools provide administration access from one intuitive console or a scriptable CLI, and include real-time monitoring and rich reporting. High availability (active/active), multi-WAN, server load balancing, and VLAN can be configured to ensure maximum uptime.

WatchGuard XCS appliances deliver the industry's most effective spam and malware security coupled with data loss prevention. Easy-to-use, WatchGuard XCS solutions offer unmatched protection against e-mail and Web-based threats, including spam, viruses, malware, blended threats, spyware and more. Additionally, WatchGuard XCS appliance provide advanced data loss prevention (DLP), encryption and management features that make it ideal for small businesses up to the most demanding enterprise network environments.
