Local computer distributor World Computer Systems (WCS) recently hosted multinational companies Intel and Lexmark at a prestigious reseller event in Boksburg. With more than 250 people attending the Oscar-themed event, WCS launched its latest E-Max series while Intel and Lexmark showed their latest technologies.
According to WCS managing director Mohammad Denath, the event was extremely successful. "As one of the largest computer distributors in southern Africa and certainly the largest distributor in the East Rand, we are honoured to host an event of this magnitude. There is a huge reseller base in the East Rand with millions of rands worth of business and we felt Intel and Lexmark`s visit to this area was long overdue."
One of the highlights of the event was Intel`s presentation of its latest L775 CPU and motherboard. Intel`s channel manager Sven Beckmann attended the event and was accompanied by McBride Matlala who gave the presentation.
Beckmann commented: "There was a great response and turnout from WCS`s customer base and I believe customers found value in the event and look forward to future initiatives from WCS and Intel."
Lexmark channel account manager Andr'e Stander says Lexmark`s presentation on its latest high-end laser printers had a huge impact on the dealers and left the guests astounded.
"Lexmark International SA was pleased to participate in this event where we could speak directly to the WCS dealers. We had the opportunity to introduce our latest products to them, both the laser and inkjet range. The event was a great success, with a good cross-section of dealers in attendance. This bodes well for WCS as they venture into a new market space while maintaining their existing strengths."
Denath says WCS has come along way since it was established nearly 10 years ago in the Pick 'n Pay centre. "WCS has grown to be the largest, most powerful computer distributor in the East Rand. With branches in Sandton and Nelspruit, we intend to expand our footprint to all other major centres across the country in the near future.
Although WCS is considered to be a major player in this market, it has opted to sell through a channel and not directly to the public.
"Boksburg is one of the fastest growing towns in SA; the economy is booming. We are committed to the growth and prosperity of Boksburg and will continue to build our business from our new headquarters in Rietfontein Road."
