Local components distributor, World Computer Systems (WCS), has been awarded full distributorship rights for iiyama`s range of LCD and CRT monitors, effective from 1 January 2004.
Under the terms of the deal, WCS will provide the local channel with the iiyama product array, support the product, honour warranties and manage swap-out programmes.
Mohammad Denath, managing director at WCS, says the iiyama brand will complement existing component solutions within the WCS stable. "We believe that iiyama has huge growth potential. The brand will bolster our own channel growth plans as it strategically positions WCS to tap into the home-user, small, medium enterprise (SME) market, as well as the corporate sector.
He adds: "The huge market share iiyama has in European countries such as Germany and the UK, where brand awareness and quality products are key, played a major role in WCS`s decision-making to partner itself with iiyama. The South African consumer needs a well-priced, high quality display with world-class service to back it up, and that is what iiyama offers.
Deon Botha, managing director of SA Mobile technologies, the company that represents iiyama in SA, says iiyama has made a commitment to growing its market share and raising brand awareness at both channel and end-user level. "We were looking for a company that would give the iiyama brand focus and dedication. WCS`s business expansion plans fitted in well with iiyama`s objective of growing the brand in SA."
Iiyama will provide WCS`s technicians with the technical training and regular technical product updates, ensuring the provision of first line support to resellers and end-user customers. "In addition, WCS will manage iiyama`s three-year warranty programme," Botha says.
Denath adds that iiyama is a `monitor solutions provider`, thus the unique warranty system. Iiyama monitors are sold with a three-year, 48-hour swap-out warranty; the first year covers on-site replacement and the two years thereafter cover carry-in to the nearest service centre.
