Local components distributor World Computer Systems (WCS) has expanded its product portfolio, after concluding a distribution agreement with Panasonic Africa.
Effective from 1 January 2004, WCS will distribute Panasonic`s entire printer, projector, Web Camera and scanner product arrays to resellers in the local channel.
Mohammad Denath, managing director at WCS, says the deal will assist his company as it continues to expand its product sets and footprint in the country. "It will open up new business avenues for WCS and its resellers, especially in the small-to-medium enterprise (SME) space. By enhancing support to both channel partners and end-users, we will be able to learn from Panasonic`s technology offering and grow the skills pool at WCS," he adds.
Colin Herholdt, product manager; IT Products at Panasonic South Africa, says WCS`s partnership with Panasonic will play an important role in raising its profile as it looks towards expansion. "We believe that WCS`s expansion strategy will have a complementary effect by raising awareness of the Panasonic brand. In addition, WCS targets an important channel for Panasonic `s products, especially with regards to the small office home office (SoHo) and SME markets. Panasonic will provide technical training to WCS`s technical field staff on its entire technology offering. We will also incentivise WCS with a number of rebate programmes this year, " Herholdt says.
