Web Africa offers new hosting, allocation models to resellers

Johannesburg, 19 Jul 2010

In another indication of how fast the South African Internet landscape is shifting, leading South African Internet host Web Africa has launched pioneering hosting and allocation models for its resellers, further expanding product choice and financial models within the sector.

Web Africa's new hosting by utilisation model gives the reseller control over multiple domains and packages under a single account at a reduced rate. There is no charge for initial set-up, and the reseller receives 20 domains and 20GBs of pooled traffic included in the monthly fee of R400.

Resellers also pay only 1c per MB in traffic costs, a saving of 14c from the old model. Disk space cost has also shrunk, from 50c per MB to 30c.

“We've established our own ADSL network, which allows us to offer such cheap rates to resellers,” says Kyron Beckx, Marketing Manager at Web Africa. “On this foundation we've added additional value added reseller options, such as the Volume Discount Programme (VDP), which has a tiered structure tailored to achieve savings as the reseller business grows.”

The VDP sees resellers receive a percentage discount, in addition to existing tiered pricing savings, which increases with their monthly spend. Resellers utilising in excess of R5 000 per month enjoy VDP discounts based on their current month's spend and discount tier, which is calculated according to average monthly spend over the previous three-month period. For example, a reseller with an average monthly spend (over three months) of R27 666 would qualify as a Silver Partner, and would receive a 7.5% discount on their latest bill.

Web Africa's new network, acquired at the end of last year, is regarded as one of the most reliable ADSL networks in South Africa and places the company in the Tier 1 ISP category.

“Since launching the hosting by utilisation option on 1 May 2010, we have had about 100 resellers sign up already, a clear indication of the attraction of our new offering in the market,” says Beckx.

Web Africa's new reseller allocation model has also attracted significant market interest. The offering has a base cost of R216.60 per month and offers a flat rate of R25 per GB, generating savings for resellers - who only pay for per use - of almost R10 from the previous version.

This model is geared at larger resellers holding 100 or more ADSL accounts. The offering is completely unbranded, allowing resellers to take full brand ownership of the product. In addition, resellers are able to make use of the advanced management interface, or Web Africa's recently redesigned API.

“Web Africa is the first Tier 1 provider to offer such low rates per GB,” concludes Beckx. “Our R25 per GB flat rate is the cheapest in the country. It's a pretty exciting time for us, and for our resellers, who are extremely competitive within the sector.”
