The PSIber Group says it has launched SA`s first Web-based salary structuring tool and payroll and human resource management suite.

The fully online services, grouped under the name PSIber Works, include a package structuring tool, payroll management and tax return assistance.

PSIber Group CEO Rob Nowicki says the Web site is not simply a product, but a set of tools and products aimed at individual taxpayers and small businesses.

The company will add two more modules later this year - a tool to allow users to compare their salary packages with general salary survey information, and a facility to help users complete their annual tax returns.

Although offer some of these services, Nowicki says that "we don`t want small businesses to go anywhere but our Web site".

Nowicki says PSIber Works is fully compliant with all South African tax rules relating to individual taxation and labour .

He adds that the site is exceptionally secure, employing firewall technology and random encryption.

The PSIber Group holds a VeriSign Class 3 Digital ID for the PSIber Works product suite. The PSIber Web site is protected by Verisign`s Secure Site Service which provides industry-standard encryption."

He says the price of non-conformance to regulations could sink a small company, but owners of small and medium-size businesses can ill afford to hire labour consultants and payroll managers.

"Off-the-shelf solutions are often expensive and need to be regularly upgraded to keep up to date with changes to tax legislation."

The business side of the product suite is based on a do-it-yourself concept and pay-as-you-go basis. It is targeted at small and medium enterprises needing a facility to store, process and manage employee payroll and human resources-related information.

Nowicki adds that the company has established partnerships with other groups which can provide additional services such as legal assistance.
