Web CMS should be multi-channelled

As retailers use Web content management tools to differentiate their Web sites, they should deploy Web-based content management in a multi-channel environment for consistent marketing, says Forrester in a new report.

An Internet Retailer article, citing the report, notes many retailers invest in additional content management technology to drive customised content in separate channels of Web, store and catalogue.

But it could be more efficient and effective to use the same Web-based content management system (CMS) to push consistent content, into all channels.

"Firms should think about these activities more holistically to avoid overlapping investments and leverage content and targeting rules," the Forrester report says.

Ektron ships CMS400.NET

Ektron has shipped CMS400.NET, a browser based content management solution built on the Microsoft .NET framework, reports Programmers Heaven.

The package enables the "easy" authoring and management of XML and HTML content.

CMS400.NET strictly enforces content and Web page layout and delivers content to multiple sites and devices.

The product is a complete content and site-management solution that works out of the box and is customisable, says the article.
