Web interfaced scheduling with Hyperion Planning

Johannesburg, 22 Feb 2001

Web interfaced event planning and production timetables have become a reality following the introduction to South Africa of Hyperion Planning by Global Technology . Launched world wide in August, Hyperion Planning is the latest offering from the Hyperion stable, represented in South Africa by GBI.

"The market demanded a web based Essbase tool," says UK-based Sue Collins, Hyperion EMEA product marketing manager. "Using Essbase`s OLAP technology, Hyperion Planning integrates budgeting and planning solutions through collaborative, event-based operational processes, both internally and externally," says Collins.

"Hyperion has identified the South African market as a key area because business is already so web enabled here," she continues. "This country is in many respects even more advanced than many European countries, and GBI`s clients are world leaders and the ideal target market for Hyperion Planning," Collins says.

"External partners access the event schedule through a password protected secure web interface, making the planning process smoother and generating a clear competitive advantage," Collins adds. The product has been engineered specifically for the web, allowing for firewalls but still maintaining full .

Removing planning from the purely financial environment and rolling it out to all relevant sectors of the supply chain creates unparalleled collaboration and speeds up project delivery. Hyperion Planning`s process management system tracks budget progress, creates and validates plans, increases response times and can set strategic targets for all members of a supply chain.

Hyperion Planning provides a ROI through its ability to integrate with other business solutions such as balanced scorecards, says Collins. It can also be customised according to specific client demands and is packaged with an open ended system which will accommodate updates and technological changes as they occur."
