As WebGain's official value-added reseller in SA, Safika BEA has brought the vendor's application development suite to market.

According to Ken Murdoch, Safika BEA MD, WebGain's application development tools will complement Safika BEA's current WebLogic application server offering, although WebGain supports rapid application development (RAD) over a variety of environments.

"WebGain provides a much broader toolset for development than that provided by BEA," says Murdoch. "WebGain's strong relationship with BEA internationally brought these two elements [development and application server] together nicely, enabling us to go a step beyond selling infrastructure to offering a development environment as well."

WebGain has already gained a foothold in the local market, with existing customers including Discovery Health, Rand Merchant , Metropolitan Life and Intec Solutions.

The suite of RAD tools includes Visual Caf'e Enterprise for component development; StructureBuilder, used for UML modelling; JDBC-based access tool suite TopLink; and front-end development tool Macromedia Dreamweaver.
