SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group and a southern African distributor for Websense, today announced that the latter's software was awarded SC Magazine's "Best Buy" rating in the magazine's Best of 2006 product feature.
The Best Buy rating is SC Magazine's top award and goes to products that the magazine rates as outstanding across a range of criteria.
Earlier this year, Websense Web Security Suite - Lockdown Edition received an overall five star rating by SC Magazine. In his April 2006 review, SC Magazine, technology editor, Peter Stephenson said: "Websense comes loaded with all the features of a perfect Web content filter and then some."
"Innovations like what we've seen from Websense demonstrate the vibrancy and vitality of the IT security industry," says SC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Illena Armstrong. "They represent breakthroughs that will benefit our readers and, in turn, corporate users of technology."
SC Magazine also recently named Websense a finalist in two categories of the 2007 SC Magazine Awards programme for outstanding achievement in information technology security. Websense Web Security Suite is nominated for the magazine's Excellence Award in the Best SME Security Solution category and is a finalist for the Reader's Trust Award in the Best Web Filtering Solution category of the competition.
"Being named 'Best Buy' among SC Magazine's Best of 2006 as well as being nominated for two 2007 SC Magazine Awards is another achievement that Websense is proud of," said Leo Cole, vice-president of marketing, Websense. "Websense provides customers with the best Web filtering and Web security technology, and these accolades validate our ongoing efforts to protect our customers from security and productivity threats - threats we find that often slip through the cracks left by traditional security solutions."
Websense security software protects organisations from both internal and external Web-based threats. Based on patented flexible filtering technology and the recently announced, patent-pending Websense ThreatSeeker technology, Websense Web Security Suite helps block and protect customers from Web-based threats before they have a chance to steal business information and affect business productivity. With Websense ThreatSeeker technology, which scans more than 595 million Web sites a week to provide ongoing threat intelligence to Websense software, customers are protected from both known and emerging security threats.
